The building used to be an old “barn” style restaurant located on a main highway. Tunnel Vision started by gutting the whole building, but left the “barn” exterior and created a fun and interactive carwash experience.
The project took about a year from start to finish, with the goal of making a quiet and sustainable carwash.
Wanting to be a good steward of the water, they installed three tanks: RO (reverse osmosis), city, and reject water. All the water used is recycled.
They turned to Dosatron for the injection system. The 15 Dosatrons were installed in the equipment room. Needing a space-saving installation, they staggered three pumps at a time on the wall. To maintain clean, uniform foam on the application end, booster pumps were also installed to provide constant water pressure, while saving energy.
To reduce the sound, they found the perfect place to install the blowers – the
attic. Attics are naturally hot, allowing the blowers to pull the hot air in a blade-like motion onto the cars, providing a quick, dry, and clean look.
As you enter the tunnel, the front tire is pulled through; instead of the rear, this allows for a shorter conveyor length. Each stage of the system is timed to save energy and only starts when the car reaches a stage in the wash and stops immediately when the vehicle leaves.
The polishing wheel and side washers are lined with LED lights. Besides being fun to look at, they provide an exact start and finish position to help reduce energy consumption.
As the rinse bar starts to send out a fine spray of water, the blower begins to push hot air down onto the car, providing a fast rinse and dry. This process uses less water. There is one last blast of hot air for a quick, intensified drying on the car when the front tire pauses.
As you leave the carwash, you get to enjoy colorful metal sculptures of “bugs” by local artists.
