What is a Mixing Chamber?
A Mixing Chamber is an inline container that is used to agitate the solution and force blending of the nutrients/chemicals.
Why do I need one?
This replicates hand mixing the solution and helps create a homogenous mixture inside the line. This is beneficial to make sure the solution is properly blended before introducing to your crop, or, for ensuring the best mix through the system (without creating buildup or fallout of nutrient components)
How many do I need and where do I put them?
This can depend on the nutrient line and components used. Typically (especially when using RO water) we want to start with our more alkaline products and work our way down towards the more acidic. This presents the best blending scenario through the system. An example of this would be: Silica – Mixing Chamber – Cal/Mag – Micro – Mixing Chamber – Part A/Nitrogen (Veg)/Base – Mixing Chamber – Part B/PK (Bloom)/Additives/Teas/Sugars – Mixing Chamber.
What is the Mixing Chamber protective sleeve for? Do I need one if my system is located indoors?
The Mixing Chamber Sunshade (Item # MC34-SHADE) is used to block out light and prevent algae build up/growth inside the clear 3/4″ mixing
ch
ambers. They are also recommended for indoor grows since most systems will still be exposed to either indoor lighting or grow lighting which can cause algae growth.
Do I need to clean a Mixing Chamber? How often?
We do recommend cleaning the Mixing Chambers. Flushing the system once per week with fresh water will help prevent growth and build up. You can also run line cleaning products through the system to help clean the mixing chambers clean (see line cleaning blog).
